I currently have a 3.0c that I can only get to 3.3g @220fsb. I've tried different settings and ram but to no avail. Can't get it stable past 220fsb. So, I'm looking for a socket 478 CPU that will get me in the 3.5-4.0g range with air cooling. It looks like peeps have had quite good OC's with the 2.8c. Also, I'm wondering about the Prescott's but am a little fearful of the heat issues with them. I have a Zalman 7000a-alcu I'll be using for cooling.

First, don't expect anything in overclocking. As many of us have learned before, overclocking isn't something is certain. If you see somebody getting 3.4ghz from a 2.6ghz on water, don't expect it. Your 2.6ghz c might only do 3.2ghz. Look for a good 3.0c with a good stepping.

Pressy's do run hot, but the 3.2E's have been clocking well.
 
I went and picked up a 3.0e so that I could get a good comparison against my 3.0c. So far got it to 3.6g @ 240fsb, 1:1, 3-3-3-6 and appears stable. :D

I am a little concerned with the heat though. It's idleing at 48c and topped out at 64c when I ran 3dmark05. I think I read that my mobo reads temps about 10c high. Can anyone confirm that? I'll dig around some more and see what I find.

So far so good. I'll push it a bit more and see how far it can go.

You have an ABIT P4 motherboard. They are known to read the temps higher than usual.
 
Well I got it up to 3.75g stable...so far. :D Temps are a little high though 50c/68c. :( But as was said my mobo reads a bit high. Still very warm though. I almost had it stable at 3.9g but couldn't quite get it. I didn't want to push the vcore too far. So I only bumped it to 1.4125v and left it there. It's already too hot as is. I've been thinking of putting in a 120mm fan in the side. This is my excuse to do it. Pretty happy with that OC...so far :cool:
