9600 gt low power edition?

its for physx, nothing fancy don't want extra power adapters being wasted

the galaxy card looks like it has a big ugly heatsink on it lol and 9800gt is probably more than whats required for physx anyways

Yep.. that is the best Nvidia card with no power connection.

On the other hand, it looks like you have a killer system already.

Why skimp on the card being used for PhysX?

After looking at options for GPU PhysX cards, I have decided on a 8800 GTS 512, 9800GTX+, or GTS250. All use the G92 core... and the GTS250 and most 9800GTX+ cards use only one power connection.

gts 250 is nice, but no pcie power connectors is nice

my hx1000 has 2x6 pin and 2x6+2 pin and there all in use for the 285's, so then i have to start messing with adapters

all i have in my hx1000 box is more 8 pins

Theres an 9800gt "green edition" that has no need for a 6 pin. Bar none the best card w/o a 6 pin needed.

also need single slot, the 1200 wont let me overhang the bottom slot :)

ill drop corsair an email if theyll send a 6pin cable for my hx1000 then i might go with the 9800gt single slot

I presume you are in Canada given your username? If not, I saw a PNY 9800GT 512MB single-slot on Newegg with no power connector for like $79.99 shipped after MIR. "Free WOW + 3D vision glasses kit w/ purchase, ends 8/31" if that floats your boat LOL.

Using a card as low as a 9600GT for PhysX with a pair of GTX 285s might actually slow you down. The lack of single-slot options - for both nVidia and ATi - is getting to be a problem.

yep I was about to say that too.

i don't think the physx processing changes that much based on your graphics cards does it?

the original ageia cards did it fine and still do it in the xps 1730 i have here and there slower then the 9600 but quite a bit
