I'm trying to find the best noise cancelling headphones and want some of your help.

I travel a lot for work and want to have great sound quality and active noise cancelling in the headphones. I need either on-ear or over-ear headphones - I don't like earbuds.

I do not like the Bose QuietComfort 15's because of that inner ear pressure problem that some people get with those.

I'm looking at these in particular:

Denon AH-NC800

Audio Technica ATH-ANC7B

Sennheiser PXC 450

Have any of you tried these and what are your thoughts for other recommendations? Thanks for anything you can do.

Any reason why active noise canceling is a required feature?

Most likely for flying. Its basically a must if you want to sleep in a plane and not everyone can sleep with music.

I would suggest asking this in the audio section.

I own the Sennheiser's. They are quite good at noise cancelling, and the audio is about the HD595 range I'd say. A little light on the bass compared to a HD650, for example.

Never tried the Denons.

Personally, I think IEM's for airplanes trump all. But the Senns are the best I've heard if you don't like them. Much better than Bose.

Thanks! I'm going to order the Sennheiser's. I wanted the noise cancelling because my ears ring after a long flight, which seems to happen lately about every other week.

I have the Audio Technica's, wore them on a plane a few times, really drowned out the engines, even when sitting by the wings.
Can't hear anything when I'm studying and the wife is watching trash TV in the same room.
And they're pretty durable, toss them in my bag often and they show no signs of wear. Also very comfortable, good sound, I could go on and on, I love them.
