'm looking for a mp3 player that's around 20-30gigs or higher..I've heard a lot about the IPODS, Iaudio, Creative Zen Xtra, and Irivers

so which out of all these are the best or are there any other suggestions?

I'm more interested in Sound quality than anything..looks really isn't a HUGE factor but being somewhat compact would be nice.

The Rio Karma is said to have the best sound quality and are going for somewhat cheap these days.

If you have the money to burn, I suggest the Cowon iAudioX5L. It plays OGG, FLAK, has tons of options, and even plays video if you convert it. Nice color screen, but small.

i like the iaudio mp3 players, if you spend a little more on their new mp3 player you get about 35 hours of playback on it

If sound quality were my number one concern, I would get the Rio Karma, because it's the only one which features gapless playback. Quite frankly I'm disappointed that competing players have not gone the extra mile to compete with Rio on this. That said, it's somewhat of a tossup. There is insufficient data to really determine a sound quality winner, which is an odd proposition to make in the first place because it is subjective for most people.

This is (to my knowledge) only a problem with the Zen Micro, and that's either 5 or 6 gigs, so irrelevant to this thread :)

As far as sound quality concerned, the iAudio X5's are regarded as the best by alot of people. They are pretty expensive though.

It has been reported with the Zen Xtra, Zen Micro, and Zen Touch. That's 3 generations of players, all with the same problems. Not to mention there was the whole virus that came on the Zen Sleek. Creative's quality control has got to sh*t on their mp3 players.

I was checking nomadness forums before getting the Zen myself and it seems headphone jack has been fixed long ago, anyway units manufactured in 8 months or so do not exhibit this problem... So I would not overestimate this point, it is good player with very good sound quality and well priced at present. I wish they included gapless though but after Rio went bust with mp3 business there is no-one to create pressure on them to implement this feature, arrrggghh!

Wow, I didn't know that it was a problem with multiple players. However, I have a Zen Touch, and I can't say anything other than that it sounds very good, and is built like a tank. I've dropped it fairly hard right onto concrete, and it just kept playing fine, no dents and no scratches to be seen.
