just as the topic states, my desk isn't great for my mx700 so i'm looking for a mousepad to clear it up and make it a bit smoother for gaming. thanks

It's only good until the pad wears out. The grid on the back of my GS is starting to come through. It's that bad.

I have an original ratpad. I like it alot, and would highly recommend one. One caveat is that the texture of the mousing surface is wearing down the feet on my MX700. Stay away from everglued.

yea i use the func 1030 with my mx310. it's good times. very smooth and slick

RatPadz GS is the best, but as others have said it does wear down under heavy use. I replace mine about every 7-8 months. Still, for the extra speed I'm willing to plunk down ~$15 every now and then.

I've used pads by fUNC, IceMat (horrid), and Steel Pad.

IceMat doesn't track well with optical mice and makes a 'fingernails on chalkboard' sound.
fUNC was basically a slightly slower version of the RatPadz. It wears down just as quick and is more expensive. Waste of money.
Steel Pad offers pretty good speed, but I wouldn't use it if you're a heavy gamer. It's great for light gaming and lasts forever. You must use teflon tape though.

I'm also in the market for a new mouse.

I was looking at the Xtrac pro HS. Seemed like a damn good pad from what people have said, and durability is good.

Any of you had experience with it?

I have had my ratpad for a week today. So far I love it and along with my MX700 I think it is a great combination. I have read the stories about them wearing out and all so I will see after a while I guess. But for right now this is the best mouse pad I have even used.
I was thinking of trying some of them silicon pads that you can add onto the bottom of your mouse also. I have heard that helps slow down the wearing and adds to the slick feeling of how it is now.

Yeah, teflon pads are an absolute must. Better speed is nice, but the increased durability of the mouse pad is the big thing.

Fragware is by far the cheapest source. $1.40 each, with $0.60 shipping for any quantity. NewEgg charges like $10 with shipping

Wow, I just noticed the same thing on mine. I'm not losing any accuracy yet though. Guess I'm in the market for a new pad now too. :(
