just trying to do some research to build a new system.

what are some of the better stable boards with a newer chipset that will work with the core 2 duo 6600?

also, if you could please list some good ram to go along with the mobo.

this system will be overclocked and used for gaming.

thanks!

expensive: (975 based, faster clock for clock)
asus P5W DH
bad axe 2

cheaper: (965 based, allows faster FSB, but not needed with e6600)
Asus P5B-E
Gigabyte DS3

Any one of those 4 boards should be capable of taking your CPU to 3.6+Ghz (400++FSB) if the chip is up to it. The next thing is look at what features you need / want. (ie: onboard sound, lan, firewire, etc)

As for ram any decent quality ddr800 should work. As you're not going to need insane memory speeds to get the most of your system. I'd just go for the best priced 2x1Gb sticks you can find. Don't waste your money on fancy Cas 3 or ddr1000 as its totally unneeded.

dont worry about get fast ram or cas3, like the other guy said. something that will run 1/1 with your fsb. tight timings, overclocked ram do not make much difference in performance with these cpu/chipsets - c2d/p65/975/680i. go for raw clock speed.
