Hey there guys first time posting in the intel boards, but as the title states looking for a reliable chipset for the c2d e6400, dont think he will be overclocking just would like great stability and a lot of features in a micro atx. If you guys can give me a few suggestions it would be great since i have no idea about c2ds
 
looking forward towards new things, and staying as current for as long as possible, here's my recommended short list:

it's only 3 boards right now, but these P35 based boards are doing very well, and doesn't require expensive DDR3 (in these particular boards, listed above). DDR2 is so cheap right now, I would just buy as much as the board (that you pick) can handle.

the first intel one the cheaper one says ddr3 looking for ddr2 800. so far 2 votes for the gigabyte ga g33 board any others?
 
Well, the intel board should give you the most stability, however I am going with the gigabyte and so should you ~
 
Looking at mATX for a lanbox to shove this 6420/Geil ram into when the quads drop in price, and wound up with the gigabyte, either the G33 above or the 965G. Either way, you have excellent backup graphics on the board along with at least decent overclocking- and it doesn't take much to get some extra speed from a core2.
 
Well, if he's not going to be overclocking...what's the point really? 30 bucks more for not much more than a name. You probably won't see stability issues with either at stock speed.
 
The ASUS P5K-VM has been released but only available in Europe so far. Probably hit North America in a couple weeks. Comparable to the DS2R but it does have some different features. It does have a 1:1 divider unlike the DS2R. A close comparison is advised. If you want something now then my choice would be the DS2R.
 
ok well my friend ordered the ga-g33 board and it hes waiting for me to come back into town to help him put his pc together. Thanks for all the help guys
 
I have the new Gigabyte G33 board and it runs great. Rock solid, no issues at all. It's only flaw is the lack of memory dividers, so if you plan on overclocking some Ballistic DDR1000 would be recommended. I even ran a Xeon X3220 quad core in the board for a few days and it didn't complain one bit. The last Gigabyte board I had was like five years ago and I said I'd never og Gigabyte again. But they seemed to have turned it around in the last year or so. I have no regrets and I'm a picky bastard.
