Best Memory for Conroe...?

If you're planning on overclocking you should probably be looking at some ddr2 800. Newegg has several choices for 2gb ddr2 800 still under 200 dollars.

Actually the 1gb PC8500 or PC 8000 SuperTalant , they are from another planet and they are cheap , check reviews for them.

The patriot foor a guy like me is too expensive , i wish i could afford them.

amusingly, i recall patriot being more on the cheaper side for what it is? i haven't seen much of them in the performance ddr2 scene, but i might just be missing something :p

They still more expensive than Supertalant or Treem. I looked at a pair before i decided to buy mine and i think the timings just boosted their price to way up in the sky . :)

They are new in the game , the PC8500 and PC8000 , you should start to see cheaper ones within the next 5 weeks. :)

i've actually got my eye on the teamgroup stuff lately... i've gotta see if i can get some to review :p

Do you get to review them / and then even keep the modules? :)

usually, yeah

chris, they're about the same. if you definitly want one of those two, pick the one you like the looks of more :p

All the reviewers keep the modules, for the most part. And the power supplies, and the cases, and the processors, and the hard drives, etc. etc.

Some of these reviewers' houses look like warehouses. :)

most of it is sitting around.. i really need to sell some to buy some more

this very second, i have 2x1gb ballistix in the test rig, and a single 1gb stick of teamgroup cronus in my main rig. former is at 535mhz, 5-5-4, the latter is at 2-3-2, 200mhz :D

Is anybody going to answer the OP's question or are they going to sit around and talk about fringe benefits of being a reviewer?

For $30 more, I don't see why anyone wouldn't go ahead and get the OCZ rather than rely upon that Patriot ram to get to 800 without relaxing the timings.

we already did. we first suggested to get ddr2-800

then when prompted with two different kits, it was concluded that they are basically identical, and whichever one looks better should be chosen. there are no new problems to answer, so we are spamming instead :p

does anyone know if the GSkill will perfrom/work fine in the giga DS3 board??
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231073
my board says it supports DDR2 800 but I've heard things like certain memory dont work.

I will order the memory tonight hopefully with conroe...if I can have someone confirm that this works in the DS3...I would ask people on the xtremesystems boards only cause alot of them have posted about having the DS3 ... but my new registered account there hasnt been activated and their email thing is messed up.

Thanks guys!
