I am upgrading my computer soon (gaming rig in sig - upgrading Mobo, CPU, and Memory). I was hoping to get a 6300 core 2 processor but I don't really know what motherboard to get with it. I've seen prices from $50-250 on this. I would prefer to spend $150 or less but I want something that can overclock decently - doesn't have to be the best OC possible but I'd like something nice. I've had great experiences with Asus mobo's in the past so maybe if someone could recommend a good Asus mobo?

I don't want to spend a whole lot on this upgrade as I'm also planning on buying a Macbook Pro as my 'main' computer shortly after this upgrade. The upgraded PC will be used mostly for gaming and that's about it.

Thanks in advance

gigabyte ds3, OC's the allendale (6300, 6400) like a mofo, all for about $150

the Asus P5W DH Deluxe. for tons 'o core2 OCing goodness. :) it's pricy but it's one solid board with amazing (450mhz+) fsb capabilities.. the 8 phase cpu power is nice also. I think it helps keep the vcore lower while still maintaining high OC numnbers. The MSI 975x and Gigabyte ds3 are good also.. the new Abit AW9D max should be a nice board when it arrives..

best bet check the leaderboard out made by mentok1982 , everything is there to make the perfect system.

i was going to wait for DFI's RD600 board, but if the abit one is coming out in a few days I may have to pick it up. It looks pretty good and would be my first abit board in almost 4 years...since the IC7

Asus P5w DH - proven best overclocker
Gigabyte DS3 - possibly best bang for buck, but results aren't consistent
Asus P5B - in the middle, good preformance cheaper than the P5W, but not quite as good

Abit A9WD-Max could take the crown as the best overclocker, if it gets to market soon - http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=240505

If it turns out to be great, I'm getting rid of the giga-bites mobo for the Abit!
