Looking to buy a new keyboard and mousepad. I want the keyobard to be black and wireless. As for the mouspad... I had the Ratpadz gs, and I was very dissappointed with it. My mouse is the mx700. Any ideas? Would like to spend less than 50 for the pair.
 
Also, as for wireless kb's... have any of yall found that it is less responsive? I honestly wont use it much at all away from my desk, I just get sick of wires.
 
Think about it-- "BEST" + "MOUSE" + "KEYBOARD" = $50? It's so illogical. Even if you somehow got it under $50, it'd be illegal. What am I talking about?

The best performing mouse is subjective, but to me, it would be wired mouses. They are the best performing (and reliable). A wireless keyboard will suck for gaming, especially FPS games. Go with wired. Having the best of both will run you a little over $50.

Otherwise, the Logitech MX Duo will fit you just fine, or just get an MX1000 mouse and a single black elite keyboard from Logitech. But you won't get it for under $50.

The best keyboard I've used that had proven itself in terms of functionability, looks and durability is the Microsoft Internet Keyboard (I have the black one). You can get the MX510 and that keyboard for around $50-ish bucks (go get the hot deals mouse for $35-ish bucks and get the keyboard around $15-20-ish).

Other than that, sorry buddy.

I would go with a black fUnc 1030 for a mousepad. I have one and its really nice.

Microsoft also has a new keyboard out that i just picked up. Its the Microsoft Digital Media Pro keyboard. Its wired and full of functionality.

I dont like Logitech keyboards myself. I find that Logitech's keyboards are of cheaper build quality then Microsoft's. The MX1000 also sucks for gaming so i wouldn't even consider recommending it.

1) I second the fUnc 1030, though it may not be large enough for you (depends on what style you play).
2) I second the MS Digital Media Pro Keyboard.
3) I second the quality of Logitech keyboard.
4) I don't know about the MX1000 "sucking" for gaming. It's all subjective. Try it. If you don't like it, return it.

In my humble opinion...

I use trackballs. I have a logitech.

I never have a tired hand, I can really turn a 180 faster than any mouse on the market, and I never have to lift my mouse up and center it on the pad.

If you are a gamer, FPS at that, I would seriously make the ballsy switch to a trackball.

It's the most erginomical solution. :D
 
best keyboard in my mind is logitech's elite keyboard.
mousepad...i just use any mousepad i can find around the house...so i don't know anything about mousepads...lol

MS desktop wireless elite keyboard + thermaltake Gamma pad. Mouse moves very nicely on it.
 
Thanks for the ideas so far... And YES, I already have a mouse. I Like the looks of the log. elite keyboard, as for how it works, no idea. And from the sounds of it I will be going with a wired keyboard. I do like the larger mouse pads, the size of teh ratpad gs was nice, not sure how big the func is. Still having trouble justifying paying 20+ for a mousepad, only paid so much for the raptad was to contribute to this website for all that I have learned from here. But I really want something that will last, dont want to have to buy another for atleast 5 years.

Check out the Microsoft Digital Media Pro. I really like it.

The fUnc 1030 will last alot longer then that Ratpadz GS will. I dont know if it will last 5 years or not but i've had mine for almost a year now and you can't really tell its had any kind of real usage.

I really like my Elite keyboard. I'm also in the market for a new mousepad (my RatpadzGS is completely worn down), I'm looking at either an Icemat or a Qpad...
 
The fUnc will hardly wear out. You'll never have a mouse pad that would last 5+ years anyway but the fUnc may very well last you for at least a year and that's perfectly alright for a $20 dollars mousepad. The steelpad or something as people say is the larger version of the fUnc, so I'm not sure. Either is still a great choice.

$47.50 before shipping?! For a mousepad?! Thank jeebus I'm not into FPS's that much; I doubt I could afford it.

Also, what makes a keyboard "the best" for gaming? Not being a smartass this time, just curious. All I care about is that it's quiet. Other than than that, I don't need any "extra" buttons or anything. For my new comp, I ordered a $5 keyboard from newegg that got good reviews. No, listen-to-your-music, check-your-email, or iron-your-clothes buttons. I think it'll be fine.

Damn...My Logitech Elite doesn't have that last button! Might have to upgrade to what keyboard Logitech has in store. :p

I can afford it but you wouldn't catch me spending $50 on just a mousepad. $20-25 is about the limit i'm willing to spend on a little square pad to sit my mouse on.

When that mousepad is able to move the mouse around all by itself then i'll consider paying $50 for it.
 
I still use the keyboard from the Logitech cordless freedom optical set. Works fine, is plenty responsive (except when some ugly RF interference comes along.) Though I did just buy an IBM Trackpoint IV USB from eBay.
