So I'm gonna need a space increase for my HDD's sometime soon, and thanks to the Thailand floods, HDD's are ridiculous.

So the secret seems to be to grab an external from Best Buy or similar (Michigan, so BB is about it) and rip out the drive, and I was wondering what drives were inside which externals.

Newegg has Caviar Greens for $149 each, but Best Buy is selling "Western Digital - My Book Essential 2TB External USB 3.0/2.0 Hard Drive - Black" for $89. Will picking up 2 of those be the same thing?
or: Western Digital - WD Elements 2TB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive for $119.

/Any other good deals I'm missing on?
 
Your going to void the warranty and some of these external drives have been seen with direct USB interfaces so then it won't hook up to the SATA controller.

I'm ok with voiding the warranty, but the "direct USB interfaces" bit is kinda why I created this thread. I'd rather learn it now than $2-300 from now.
