I'm going to be putting together my new system soon and was just wondering if there is a certain order or best order that I needed to go through when installing my drivers, bios, windows etc.?
Thanks in advance.

On another computer, burn a CD with the newest network drivers. Hell, you might as well add videocard drivers, chipset drivers, audio drivers, etc. Okay, on your new computer...

1. Windows
2. Drivers (I'd do network drivers first, just to get Internet up)
3. BIOS, any videocard flashing, etc.

I always do:

1. Windows (duh)
2. Service Packs
3. DirectX 9c (if not in service pack, SP2 does include it)
4. Motherboard drivers
5. Graphic drivers
6. Any other programs

and I never have had any problems with installing.

FIRST: windows
SECOND: Firewall + Antivirus
THIRD: Win update (sp1, directx, whatever)
FOURTH: chipset/video drivers (do chipset after firewall/AV if you need them for internet)

I never go online or even go on my network with out a software firewall (a good one, not that zone alarm garbage) and norton installed.

after i'm all done, i download the newest ad aware and clean up

good suggestions, good suggestions...except for that bloatware you call "norton" ;)

use AVGFreeEdition www.grisoft.com

the reasons i don't like norton are:
1. i had it installed on my computer, i had to reformat just to uninstall it
2. i had to reformat to stop it from screwing around w/ my computer, i had all sorts of stability issues :(
3. it's inefficient, it's full of unneccessary "bloat" (that's why it's called bloatware)
4. it wraps itself too deep in my system...if i can't clean it out using the uninstaller...that's too much
5. AVG is free and just as good if not better :D
