Best IC7MAX3 NB Cooler?

Hi I'm looking for a new cooler to replace this one on my motherboard and I'm hoping to get one that is relatively quiet and offers high performance. The current blue orb one that I have is way too loud and seems to be dragging at times. Ones that I currently have my eye on are the Swiftech MCX-159 & Thermaltake NB-1C (Although I heard the NB-1C is very loud with the 6,000RPM 60mm fan). Any other choices I should look at? Remember I want silence...the only reason I'm switching this one out is becuase it is way too noisy.

Thanks in advance! You guys are always a great help :p

Hmm, I believe you mean Thermalright NB-1C, which comes with a 40mm fan.

From what I read, the fan emits a high pitched noise. Maybe a different fan could solve the problem, or running the fan through a fan controller?

it's like 45mm, not quite a 40, not quite a 50

and people said it is a very quiet fan, but i'd like to call shens/bs right now. It was by far the loudest fan in my system (OTES removed). I used a zalman fan mate and turned it down to where i couldn't hear it and called it good. You could use a zalman fanless cooler if you really wanted, just have good airflow in your case, and you're fine

I originally bought the swiftech to go on my IC7 Max 3, but with the NB placement and my 9800pro having the Zalman heat pipe cooler on it, it wouldn't fit. Just keep in mind you have limited room there, and make sure your choice will fit. I eventually used the swiftech on my new Asus PC-DL dual xeon board and it is quiet, but it is just a 2 pin fan, doesn't have an rpm monitoring sensor, at least mine didn't.

Mine works just fine at 255FSB with the standard orb cooler minus the fan. I also lapped it and used AS5. And I had to remove some fins with the gentle aid of a hacksaw so my XP-120 would fit :)

Another vote for the NB-1C. I am running one on my NF7-S and it is a great little cooler. It does have a quiet, high-pitched whine, but considering that it costs less than half the price of the swifty NB cooler, you can't go wrong.
