I'm planning on building my very own htpc, I have picked and order every single core component except the case. :(

The only one I have consider is the Antec OVERTURE, really really nice case from what I have seen. But I refuse to let the case be the most expensive part on my htpc or close to.

Why are they so damn expansive!!! When there is normal big tower cases for like $40 bucks! I just want the smallest an htpc case can be that will resemble a dvd the closest. Can you guys help me out?

Get an Enlight Desktop ATX and spray paint it your favorite color. Their included enlight ATX 300w psu's are powerful and high quality. Much better than the usual 250w crap you get in other desktop cases.

I have a desktop enlight clone with the 300w enlight psu i picked up. I dremeled out the two 60mm and 80mm fan grills for better ventilation. I then cleaned it, gave it a coat of primer, then spray painted it black.

I'm still configuring the HD cages but when i'm finished i'll throw my htpc in it (rig#2 in the sig)

Edit: forgot to ask... are you using a full size atx mobo or a micro-atx? I based my answer with the assumption that you needed full sized atx. If you're using a micro atx mobo then your options are enormous.

I've got this one and it works great. Almost the same size as my A/V equipment. 200w power supply is more than enough for my DVD, hard drive, 9600pro AIW.

If you're using an matx board, and you like the overture, go for the antec minuet instead. I have it, and I love it.

i can't wait until i have a house/appartment of my own where i actually have some room for a home theater setup.

those cases at directron look pretty cool, and they have a bunch to choose from :)

"And finally, Aria is the quietest PC case in the entire world."

Zalman has a completely passive case...I do not understand how this one could be quieter.
Also, I was considering the Minuet until I saw that it only accepts half-height cards. Where the hell can I find a reasonable half-height tv-tuner?
I recommend the Overture-it is quite above any competition. It fits well in an A/V setup.
