Hi everyone, I am going to buy a DFI mobo (either Lanparty B or Infinity- not sure which, is there much of a performance/overclocking issue or are they exactly the same apart from the extras??) and I have the following question.

What HSF would be best for me to get and give me the best cooling performance, especially considering that I cannot do any kind of mod to it as I have never done that before and dont really want to either cos Im kinda crap at that kind of stuff!!

Many thanks for everyones help

the two DFI boards are identical IIRC, but the infinity has the extra ethernet jack and the lanparty has the glowing colors

I recommend a Zalman 7000 Cu heatsink, or if you dont mind a lot of noise, a SP-97 with a tornado seems to be a favorite as well

I bought the thermaltake silent boost for my INfinity mother board. I liked it becuase it had an 80mm fan,

Thermalright heatsinks don't fit on DFI boards. You need a special mounting plate to get them to work.

I've been lookin at the MCX-462V with a decent 50-60 CFM 92 mm fan. Any comments? Also, with the Tornado, how low can you take the noise with a fan controller? Do the CFM still stay high with it? Also, could one use the 'fan only' power connector on an Antec TruePower 430W for the tornado to take the noise down?

So would I need this "neo-backplate" for all thermalright heatsinks, or just the sp-97??

I have been reading up on the sp-97 and it seems to generally be the most preferred heatsink for Athlons. But it is quite expensive, and with me being a student, is there a second choice which is less money?? No more than bout £25 / $46. Any suggestions?? Thanks to everyone who replies

just for use on the DFI boards(with any thermal right bold on) or u can mod the onethey gice u, but i wouldn't reccomend that, but other ppl use them, because they put stress on the holes, not the pcb/reistors on bottom... if u dont have the money, you can get a slk-800A/U, slk-900A/U, slk-947A/U, or a thermaltake silent boost(not the best, but good enough) or a sk-7(if u can find it, made by thermalright..)

Hi, I am planning on getting some new memory and a motherboard (it will be either a DFI Lanparty B or Infinity) and was wondering which is the best memory to get for it, apart from BH5 memory, as that seems to be pretty nonexistent at the mo (everyone else at these forums but me seems to have some BH5  )

I dont have too much to spend on it either, I can spend about £110 (about $202), so what do people recommend??

Thanks for everyones opinions

Does the Zalman 7000 AlCu need any kind of mod for it to fit to either the Infinity or the Lanparty??

Thanks

all the SLK/ SP style heatsinks fit with only minor modding to the mounitng hardware. took me less than 5 minutes to modify the bolts and mounting plate to make it work, its no big deal at all.

lots of info on the modding at amdmb.com

the next best thing after BH5 is CH5....

buffalo, and many other companies use them..

RE : Zalman 7000 AlCu to be installed on a Lan Party NFII B.

The Mounting Apparatus one side has to be sawed down about half a centimeter so it doesn't touch the back of the parallel port.
