I was disapointed to find that the Zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu was not compatible with the board. So I was thinking the Thermaltake Volcano Silent Boost K7. It will be cooling a 2500+ mobile. But I was wondering if there was a better HSF.

The brands that are available are:
Cooler Master
GlobalWIN
OCZ
Thermaltake
Vantec

wow the thermalright SP-97 is a beautiful HS, though its damn expensive,

being just $70 for the HS + $10+ for a fan.

I dont think that fits into my budget.
 
ive got the sp-97 + a 92mm panaflo fan.

Its a great Heatsink fan combo. I oc my xp-m 2500+ to 2.2ghz (for the summer) but once winter hits again I will push it back up to its limit (which seems to be 2.5ghz for this cpu)

then again I have heard that putting on a 80mm fan with the sp-97 can lower temps even more, so I might do that... or not.

There is a very simple little mod to the Zalman to make it fit. Just google for it, or even search the forums. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT buy any Thermaltake junk.
 
Thermalright SLK-900A also fits the board. It's all copper and fits an 92mm.

That's the one I want to get whenever I can get to changing some parts in my PC.
 
See my sig. Works very well. I go for the "silent" operation of a 92mm at 1800 rpms. I can get 2450 mhz and stay less than 50C at load. chip is in sig too. I've gotten as high as 2650 by running the 92mm at 4000 rpm's and volts at 2.0 and Temp at 63C under load.

Its a nice HSF.

You didn't say anything about budget. You just said best.
 
I think I got mine at newegg for 52.99 on a 1 day sale. They have em normally for 55.99 but are out of stock right now. And you can just put a 80mm case fan on it for the time being if you have an extra one lying around.

im suprised only 1 other [H] member knew about the simple "mod" that you have to do to the Zalman to get it to fit onto the NF7-S. All you have to do is cut off part of the clip. I asked this question quite some time ago and I recieved good feedback and pictures. Here is the thread http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=760421

Would you still reccomend it over a ALX-800 Thermalright HS w/ ZM-F1 Zalman 80mm Fan?

Cause they both run about the same price.

As for the fan I recommend an 80mm Thermaltake SmartFan II and you'll be able to adjust the noise level to your tolerance while still retaining great flow characteristics.
My ambient temps are ~20c, with the fan @3000 rpm my temps never go above 33c (MBM reading) when it's clocked at 2160mhz / 1.525v.
At 3krpm it's quieter than the Sunon's that I have (and I still hear my GT kick up over all of them)

i dont have that combo but i do know that the 80mm zalman with the resistor does not push that much air. So i think it would be safe to assume that the thermalright option you gave will not perform as well as the Zalman Cooler
