I am about to order an AMD 64 3200+ from newegg.

I dont want to spend money on watercooling and overclocking isnt a big issue for me...

sooooo

What is the most quiet HSF that wont cook my processor?

Or, is the retail HSF sufficient?

Help me out guys!

Thanks

I bought a Zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu and it's pretty quiet (normal mode ~25dB). It uses a 92mm fan @ 2400RPM. If you're not overclocking, you can reduce the noise even more with the included fan speed controller (~20dB, 1350RPM).

Thermalright SLK800A is good, as is the latest HSF from Swiftech.

Amd 64 3000+
50 oc under load (fan on max but still very quite)

Only scary thing is the damn Zalman weights so much (like 0.75 kg or something).

Yeah, the all copper one does (CNPS7000A-Cu), but the AlCu model only weighs 340g.

If you don't care much about high performance or overclocking, the stock unit should do just fine. No need to spend more money than you have to... However, if you want something quieter, then you might want to listen to these guys.
