Whats up guys :)

I was just wondering, Who makes the best and most reliable Hard Drives? I though that Segate made really really good ones but then was true that alot of people had problems with them due to the fact that they burn out. Is that true??

250g
300g

i've become quite fond of seagate drives, used to have 8 maxtor's though, one 80gb maxtor failed on me. my brother has had bad luck with maxtor's, he got 6x80gb 7200rpm fdb's at the same time and there's only one left running, must have been a bad batch..
anyways, seagates are fairly quiet and run cool :D
 
I personally have never had a single problem with IBM/Hitachi drives. My system is currently running a 40GB and 60GB that I have had for about 5 years. These drives have been running 24/7 over those 5 years without a single problem. Same with the 2.5" Hitachi drive in my laptop that's been running for almost 2 years (First release 60GB 7200RPM Laptop Drive). I push my HD's hard and they are the only one's I have never had fail (except one that failed a week after I received it, but this was due to poor handling/packaging on shipment, the box had been dropped and was half crushed when I received it).

The only drive I will never personally purchase is Fujitsu. After having (4) drives all fail within the first month of purchase (4 seperate occurences).

A lot of reliability is in the eye of the beholder. For every person that has had great experience with one brand, there is probably 5 people who will readily say they had a problem with the exact same brand. I personally live by individuals reviews of hard drives (like Newegg's reviews). Just my .02
