Best Half Life 2 version for me?

I am inspired to buy Half Life 2 after playing HL2 Ep 1 with a friend. I'm short on money so I'm more of a console player so all I have is my laptop and 360.

I know it's not much of a demanding game for a PC but I know with this laptop I won't be able to crank up the visuals that much. And I also know that the 360 will upconvert it and do anti-aliasing if I buy the Xbox version but comparing the two the PC version looks MUCH better.

So my question is...Will I get better performance buying the Xbox version or the PC version? (pc specs in sig)

In your case the game will prolly look and run better on your 360 than the lappy in your sig.. If fps games with the 360 controller are OK with you, that is prolly your best bet anyway..
Personally, I would still rather play it on your gpu challenged lappy with a kb/m attached than the 360.. I just despise using a controller for fps games, it interferes with the game play too much for me..

HL2 was meant for pc, also the requirement aint that demanding, a mid range pc should run smoothly due to valve's supreme source coding.

Everything in your laptop is up to snuff except for the integrated video card. I can't imagine the game running higher than 800x600 at low settings.

I'd suggest downloading the hl2 demo off steam and trying it out on your laptop to get a good feel for how the game performs on your hardware. If it's less than spectacular, you might want to consider the xbox version.

Alright well thanks guys I think I will consider the Xbox version after all....

I downloaded the demo off of Steam but it freezes on the loading. It boots up okay but as soon as I choose new game and it starts loading, it freezes at a little more than halfway. I googled it and I can't find a solution. Has anyone else had this problem?

Sounds like the video card isn't even fast enough to start the game in dx9.

Try running the game in dx7 mode with all the settings on the lowest-either -dx7 in the launch options or mat_dxlevel 7.0 in console.

xbox version also miss out great mods like Insurgency ;)

save money on a new pc instead
