I need a new video card. Mine is a 9700 Pro and its starting to show its age. So I ask for some help, what is the best card(price/performance) that can be OCed for the highest returns. If this belongs in the OCing forum plz move.

6800GT :D Best money/perf, and it clocks like hell, if you have the right one. Leadtek has a massive cooler, which allows you to clock over Ultra, with little luck to UEE.

i would suggest a 6800gt along with a an NV silencer5 for it, it will lower case temps and GPU temps by 10c, which allowed me to clock my 6800gt (from Evga) to 421mhz/1.14ghz stable.

wait for the revision 2 of the NV5 before you even consider takeing the chance with one of these

if you want a little bit easyier on the pocket,6600GT works well too

yeh, but if you were to go that rout the only real smart thing to do would be to keep the 9700.

NVSilencer 5 rev.2 is coming?? w00t?! Is this true? What will be the difference from "rev.1" ?

X800pro Vivo ~softmoded to XT PE or at least XT speeds. My current card is clocked up to 560/590. The Vivo costs about the same as a GT and almost everyone will agree the XT PE performs better than a GT.

I'm getting water cooling so i should be able to keep the temps resonable. Any specific brand of 6800s and x800s that are better for ocing?

Well, FYI, I just got an X800pro around christmas (so it's a new production unit), and the card overclocks like CRAZY.

It's a non-vivo (with only 12 pipes), but my 3dmark score beats many X800XTPEs here on our [h] forum 3dmark list.

I've gotten up to 629/589 on crappy water cooling with a volt mod only to 1.57 on the processor (stock voltage 1.41) using a pencil.

Soooo, my vote is x800pro. I couldn't be happier and I think the chances of getting a good overclocker are very good in the current production units.

I would suggest a 6800GT, and it doesn't matter which company you get it from when you are modding the card for watercooling IMO.
