G'day all. 'til Recently, I had been running a venerable R580 in my rig - which for a brief time I was using run GPU F@H. I enjoyed being able to turn in massive point/WU counts. When we moved to GPU2, obviously, I lost my ability to run the GPU client; and while my trusty old Toledo Athlon 64 X2 was a solid CPU it paled in comparison to the GPU client (that and I was too lazy to setup the SMP client).
Cue upgrade build this December, when I installed a Lynnfield i5 750 (currently running at 3.38Ghz) and more importantly a G92b GTS 250 1GB.
I promptly downloaded the GPU2 client, and have been happily folding ever since.
The 250 is a stopgap purchase until all the noise in the GPU market shakes out (specifically - until Fermi drops and possibly ATI starts revealing details about RV970).
I've read a lot about the OpenCL problems (both in Nvidia and ATI's implementations). My question is, if it comes down to buying a high-powered current-gen GPU - what is the best GPU (line or model) for F@H?
For reference, I'd like to significantly increase my current production - which is at around 3-4k points per day.
