Basically im looking for the best gaming headset out there with a microphone.
I have found a few different ones which are:

Sennheiser PC160/155 Gaming Headset

Fatal1ty Pro Gaming Headset from creatives website.(but cant find anywher else, if someone has seen this on a UK website please post link)

Plantronics GameCom Pro 1 PC Gaming Headset (I found these at ebay for £25-£40 cheaper than anywhere else)

Any info or user feedback of these would be appreciated. Or any other suggestions welcome.

Also is it better to have a USB or a 3.5mm jack headset?

Thanks

WE NEED A FRIGGIN STICKY!!

Ok all headsets suck compared to using real headphones and a Zalman clip on mike or otherwise. Sennheiser makes the best gaming headsets 150, 160 and headphones 485, 555, 595 with Audio Technica A500 and A700, A900 being right there but are closed headphones

USB sucks has tech issues etc.

The answer to all the threads here asking about the ultimate gaming headset, which so far didn't exist:

Looks pretty serious, I think:

fixed. we shouldn't be hotlinking images as per section 14 of the [H]ardforum rules. thx. ---- magnetik

Supposedly, it's meant for aviation use, but if the microphone is easily driven, I can see lots of serious gamers wanting 35 dB isolation and excellent sound and build quality.

It is mentioned that the HS-300 is going to cost the same, or less, than the Sennheiser HME 100, which retails at $299. Not too bad, actually.

It looks like it's even possible to customize it via the Beyer Manufacture...

Pretty cool.

It's a 2006 DT-770, which is one of, if not the, best gaming headphone on the market, with a built in mic.

I don't want to see any more threads asking for "Best gaming headset?", understood? :D

Rik

No, that is a new model from Beyer Dynamic that is said by them to be the DT770 used in an aviation headset. It is not a clip on microphone for a DT770.

OK so the 2006 version has a Boom Mic then? I am failing to find anywhere online that has a DT-770 with Mic...

Its called the HS-300, its even shown in the quote that digitalmind posted from one of his posts in another thread.

ok so what is the difference between the 150 and 160/165? nay sound difference?
and the 485, 555, 595, is there a sound difference? is there any reason to go with a more expensive one?
Also are any of these usb?

I think when the OP says "gaming" that equals a set with a mic attached...

lol probably so. only MP game i ever bother with is the old Urban Terror Q3 mod but i use a seperate mic.

160s are the best headset. they are at least 30% larger than the 150s and sound better. the A900s are great but the A700 is too and is 100 bucks now.

the 485 is the cheapest but still pretty good the 555 is an open ok sounding and doesn't need an amp(nor does the 485 really) the 595 doesn't need an amp either but sounds WAY better if you do. The A500,700,900 don't need an amp.

The picture up at the top is not the DT-770, that doesnt have a mic and the pic shows it does. What actually is it?

I think im going to go with the sennheiser 160's, ppl have said very good things about them and they are on sale at £50.

Thanks for your input and sorry for another headphone thread.

You could, offcourse, read the post and click the links. It's a Beyer Dynamic HS-300, which is basically a DT770 with a mic.

I've got senn 160, but don't really like them.

I'm going to get a separate mic and use my fullsize cans instead. I can wear those all day long with no discomfort and they provide much better sound. Something you might consider doing yourself.

For some odd reason, i feel like getting either the Audio Technica A500 or A900. Hrmmmm.
