Best FTA box for HTPC setup

[wfarid]

What's the best FTA box to hookup to an HTPC, one that sends 1080i/p signals, good audio quality, etc straight for the HTPC to record?

Possibly Free-to-Air?

It sounds like he's asking, in a very convoluted way, how to record television?

If you're talking about ATSC broadcasts, any of the current digital tuner cards can receive and record those. Some can also receive unencrypted QAM. No box required.

he is asking about satellite receivers

none, otherwise everyone here would be using one

You'd be hard pressed to find any set top box that'll hook directly up to a computer and record high-def, whether it be a cable box, a satellite receiver etc etc.

Yea sorry, I assumed everyone knew what an FTA (free to air) box was. I was considering picking one of the HD enabled ones up, but I'd rather not drop $600 if I can't even record what I'm watching.

I really wish someone would either come up with a card/software that can unencrypt QAM.
