• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

I'm way out of practice here.

What's the best MalwareBytes type free utility for the Mac to try weeding out browser hijackers and stuffs ?

Thanks

I've never found anything on any of my macs but here you go nonetheless http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php

edit: I was trying to find you a free online scanner but didn't come across one. There are numerous free apps in the MAS but Avast and Sophos both have free scanners available. I haven't used either of them on OS X so I can't recommend one for you.

virus is not a likely concern but malware via browsers, etc. are still possible

Worst thing I have had happen since my first Mac in 08 was my browser has been hijacked a couple times. Worst one was a pseudo crypto locker that was eliminated by resetting browser. I have used Sophos in the past but was never a fan.
