Best $ Free DVD to DIVX MPEG software?

I want to convert several DVDs to DIVX or MPEG what is the best free software for doing that?
 
I use SmartRipper v2.41 to rip the DVD onto the hard drive. And then autogk/gordian knot to encode to xvid/dvix. Works good.
 
For dvd -> mpeg2 use dvdshrink. It'll technically create .vob files, but it's mpeg2.

For dvd -> xvid AutoGK or Gordian Knot. They're basically different GUIs of the same thing. For help in using them, check the guides at www.doom9.org
