Hello everyone,

Im looking for the current best free DVD burning software. It needs to be able to burn video DVDs than can be played on DVD players. If there are no good free versions then what would software would you recommend?

Thanks!

Since everyone's already mentioned ImgBurn, I'm going to provide some useful information about it so that you may better inform yourself before downloading and installing it: when it finishes burning a DVD it plays a lovely cheery little five-second jingle.

Which you can easily turn off in the options if it annoys you.

Do you mean JUST to burn or the conversion and creation of the DVD files also?

If not then... yeah IMGBURN. LighteningUK rules!

Or change it to something you like better. It just points to a wave file in the options. All of the sounds can be customized that way.

I use Ashampoo's Burning Studio. They're up to version 9, which costs money, but they offer an older version (v. 6) for free.

I think it would be easier to use a true DVD Authoring tool than to use ImgBurn. Much less steps.

Using DVD Flick which uses imageburn. Works nice.....and I didn't even play with the settings. Was real simple to do.

Would IMGburn be good for burning .avi files? I have two, 1GB .avi fiIes I want to burn to one DVD. They're in Xvid format. How would I go about setting up IMGburn to create a DVD playable in a DVD player out of them? Or is there another program more suited to this task?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ultimately, I did a technology judo move and solved this question from the other direction: got a DVD player that plays DivX/XviD files. The one I linked even has a USB port, so you can just throw the XviD files on a thumb drive and not deal with discs at all.

Ahh, unfortunately I'm giving the burned DVD to someone else who already has a DVD player they're happy with :(.

I actually found a program to do it but when I made it, on one DVD player it didn't play at all, and on the other it had no audio. Not so good.
