I am hoping to keep my case small with two internal raptors, but I want to have plenty of space so external looks the way to go. What would you reccommend for massive external storage? Would it be better to buy actual external hard drives from newegg or would it be better with something like http://www.scsi4me.com/products/U7-4-B2.htm and use internal hard drives?

You can get that stackable case if you want.

What I'd do is buy the biggest and cheapest hard drive (you can get them real cheap with rebates), and then buy a cheap hard drive enclosure (~$30).

And that gives you your external storage :)

Those SOHOTanks are -sexy- if you see them up close; those pictures don't do justice to the solid aluminum beast. I'd probably go with the Firewire version, since you can daisy-chain the individual controllers (The USB version, which is what we have at work takes 4 USB ports) and connect everything to your rig with a single cable.

They're not exactly cheap, however; unless you know you want to fill them up with drives, I'd probably go with a smaller unit. They're a touch on the noisy side as well (the PSU fan is pretty loud).

Oh, yeah... you're going to need to get some drive rails, since they only hold 5.25" units.
