I was just playing around with some older drivers while modding my GF4 ti 4200 to a Quadro 4..
I ran some benchmarks with a few sets of drivers for comparison. I ran timedemo's for each of the following (dont laugh, my system is slow). 1.4ghz Celeron (Tualatin), 512MB SDRAM, WinXP SP2. I ran each test 3 times and averaged the scores, although the scores didnt vary more than .1fps on D3 and .06fps on HL2
Doom 3:
- 67.66: 19.2fps
- 66.93: 19.1fps
- 42.51: 12.2fps
- 42.51 (softquadro4): 11.8fps
Half Life 2:
- 67.66: 29.72fps
- 66.93: 29.91fps
- 42.51: 31.87fps
- 42.51 (softquadro4): 29.17fps
The first thing that I noticed was that the Direct3d performance has gotten worse since, v42.51. At the same time it appears OpenGL performance has gotten way better. I always just used the newest (non-leaked) Nvidia drivers (currently 67.66). But now it has gotten me wondering if there are some older ones that anybody knows of that have better OpenGL and D3D performance for the GF4 ti cards than the newer drivers. Thanks!
BTW, the thought just occured to me that the old drivers had similar OpenGL performance and that the newer ones are just optimized for Doom 3... Either way, can anybody suggest some older drivers for the card featuring better performance? thanks...
