which one gives better image quality

I dont know if you're interested but someone was asking about recommended digital cameras on another thread, point and shoot. I recommended Olympus.

I gave them a demo of it, with pics from a 120$ Olympus D-535 camera and a $300 Olympus Stylus Verve. There's a bunch of photos I took with both cameras.

Tried the A520/510/sd400/DSC-W5 at best buy out. The DSC-W5 left me impressed. The canons are just way to slow for me.

My problem now..
Dell has the a520 for $166 shipped!!

Dell has the DSC-W5for $261 shipped!!

i dont know what to do!!

I took the sony dsc-W1 over the Canon choice at the time soley based on speed, if I had to to it again i would get the sony, it's smaller thn the canon and as far as i could tell between the 2 the sony had a clearer image. The W1 is for all purposes the same as the W5 , Though there might are some cosmetic diffrences as well as some firmware difrences.

The other nice thing I can say about the sony is the if your batteries die, you "could" use normal double a batteries, but they don't last to long, just a quick fix if you need it.

I think image quality is an awfully relative term, and when you put yourself under $300 you may want to look at which ones give you the best features.

That said, i've never really bought a P&S

If i get the Sony DSC-W5 what do i use for memory, sorry for such a n00b question, i know nothing about digi cams at all really, and this will last me 3-5yrs most likley

Pick up any memery stick PRO media, 512MB should be fine , I got mine from staples as it was on sale for 69 dollars before tax. you will see some thats labled "magic gate" you dont need that just plain old memory stick pro.
