Hi all,
I jailbroke my iPhone 2G a while back and I finally did it with the 3G. What are the best/must have apps for cydia and the ones that just make jailbreaking really worth it?

So far I have reminder, five icon dock, modem, and notifier. What else is out there?!

-5 icon dock
-flashlight (auto cranks brightness) - the appstore flashlight wont
-statusNotifier (puts mail/sms/alarm/ etc icons in the top status bar by battery - like most normal phones do (icon on statusbar if you have new mail ,for example)

-quickUnlock (allows you to unlock iphone by hitting home button 3 times - instead of sliding)
-safari tab closer (allows you to quickly close all tabs in safari - instead of one at a time), or close safari (kill process)

-rename (lets you rename apps on springborad)

Standalone apps:

- Cycorder > Video recording for 2G/3G
- PDANet > Ad-hoc wifi tethering, nice if you're on a 2G. Free version limited to port 80 only.
- Flashlight > Increases brightness whereas AppStore ones can't
- ActivateMMS2G > Lets an iPhone 2G use the built-in MMS app, identical to 3G/3GS
- MobileTerminal

There's LOTS of stuff that tweaks your phone. Note that there is a slight performance penalty for using these. I personally don't really care for them.

- Winterboard > Themes
- SBSettings > Swipe your finger accross the top statusbar to drop down a menu to toggle wifi, check running memory, kill processes, toggle 3G, respring, and more. Can be extremely useful, although the only thing I'd use from here on a non-jailbroken phone is the wifi toggle.
