Best current $200 Video Card

What is the best video card out right now for $200 that is AGP? I just read some of the info on the new Nvidia 6600GT, and it sounds pretty sweet, but apparently AGP versions won't be out for a while?

I couldn't find an expected release date.

I know the ATI 9800PRO can be found for around $199. Does anyone else have any suggestions? This is for a friend, who will want to play HalfLife 2 and Doom 3. Thanks!

6600GT AGP won't be out for a good 2 months. If you want something now 9800pro is the way to go.

Thanks, The Batman, that is what I was thinking. I couldn't find a definite time frame for the 6600GT. Is that for the PCI Express introduction, or when the AGP version will be out?

AGP. PCIE should be on us by the end of the month...hopefully.

why not wait for the 6600gt agp it will prolly be out with half life 2 or possibly before it

Looks like the X700 XT will be out about the same time for the same price in both PCI-E and AGP.

I would talk him into spending an extra $50 for a 6800. It's a much better investment than a 9800Pro and well worth the $50.

Agreed. Yes, *right now*, the 9800 Pro is the best "$200" video card, but that's like saying a GF2MX is the best $20 video card. Yeah, technically, it IS true...but why inflict that on yourself when you can get SO MUCH MORE for so little more money?

I would agree on the 6800nu. If you really don't want to spend a little more a 9800Pro isn't a bad choice either.
