Best cost effective and simple backup method

I am looking to setup a home backup system and trying to decide which of many ways to go.

1. WD or Seagate basic NAS system like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136745

2. Or put a couple of new platter drives in my main pc in raid 1, and use some kind of software to backup the other pc on my home network (wifeys lappy)

3. Pay the monthly sub for mozy or carbonite or some such.

My main intent is to backup all of my wifes photo albums with are less than 20GB at the moment, but are growing quickly.

Maybe I'll duplicate the data locally and setup an online service...

What say ye?
 
You fail to mention whether this is for Mac or Windows and it doesn't really matter, however in OSX Time Machine is an obvious choice. You can setup a RAID 1 enclosure and use TM for that. If its Windows, then you have a lot of options at your disposal, my reccomendation would be to find a backup software that you like and set it up to backup to at least two external drives that you rotate every week. Cloud storage is an optino too, however restoring from the cloud can take ages, especially 20GB worth of data.
 
Windows stuff... just a desktop and a laptop with win 7. My belkin router has a USB port on the back and supposedly has some kind of built in backup software, but I'm leery of that.

Do you have any recommendations for a specific backup software to use on Win7?

Also, I do have E-SATA on the desktop, and USB 3.0

I have a raid5 of 5 ssds. I use ntfsclone to make clones of my ntfs partition in linux every so often. I save it all to an internal raid1 of 2 2tb drives.

I clone the contents to a 2tb usb drive that isnt connected at all times, only during the backup process. that's it.
