Best Catalysts?

Does anyone have a definitive answer on the best catalysts? Is there one set that just stands head-and-shoulders above everything else? Currently I am using 3.5's because I heard that they were very good. I also heard that 3.10 and the newest 4.4's are pretty good as well. Any opinions?

I've tested every Catalys and omega driver from 3.0 up to 4.4 and I can say definitively, without a doubt, the 3.9 Omegas are head and shoulders above the rest. Quake 3 has an advantage to movement with FPS, so I should know. At least for Q3, those 3.9's own. I disagree with the german site that says the 3.1's are quicker, as I find CONSISTENTLY that the 3.9's are. I've heard that this is when they were accused of cheating tho...

So far the 4.3's have been the best for me. If you play DX9 games there is a noticable shader speed improvement. Haven't tried 4.4's 'cause only thing I've heard they do is fix bugs and lower performance. I don't have any of the bugs they fix so... Go with the 4.3's. Very nice driver.

i would have to agree with that as well. 3.9s by far have to be the best, at least for my 9500pro. They provide me with the best performance across the board. it's too bad i had to switch to 4.2 the other week because Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow does not support 3.9s and the game crashes my computer. Other then that game everyother game runns fantastice. As soon as my brother finishes Splinter Cell P.T. im going to switch back to 3.9s and get about 10-20% better performance on the games i play which include UT2004, HL:CS, and FarCry.

........oh wow my brother just finshed Splinter Cell PT, now its time for some pownage driver installation !;)

I've been stuck with the Omega 3.7's. Though I think I'll try the Omega 3.9's and 3.10's (just cause I've heard they are really good too).

4.3's in my opinion are the best for me.

tried the 4.4 and the was not one positive thing that came out of them.
I prefer not to talk about it

I'm using 4.4s now...I upgrade everytime the new catalysts come out and I never see any real performance gains or decreases.

4.1 cats here;) Never had a single problem with them play every game (THE WAY IT WAS MENT TO BE PLAYED LOL) They are by far the best catalyst drivers i have used. With the most buggy ones for me going to the 3.9's:p

I'm also using the Omega 3.9s. They do perform a bit faster for me than the 4.4s, but the real reason I'm still on the 3.9s is any later driver has openGL gamma control issues in some older games, like UT(1999), which I still play a lot. (damn, that game is 5 years old already?)

And since they seem to run all the newer games just fine, I probably won't switch until ATI fixes that openGL issue.

everytime new drivers come out, I upgrade a notice a little bit of an increase in perfomance. I have a 9600np 256mb. They have consistantly gotten better and better for me.

I always stay updated with my drivers, even if nothing is wrong. Things just seem to run smoother that way.
