Which one among the following should be my choice?
(All AGP)
FX5600 Ultra 128-bit
Radeon 9550 128-bit
Geforce 6200 64-Bit
Radeon 9600 256MB (Non-Pro)

I want a bit future proofing...........
 
Those cards do not have much of a future.
If you had something like a 6800 GT or a X800 XL you might be able to skip this coming generation and then upgrade when the next one arrives.
 
Actually I cant buy another card than the ones listed above............So i just wanted to know what would be the best option among these?
 
I'm thinking 9600, but then I don't know about the 6200, is that the one that can be unlocked to 6600 speeds
 
umm that sucks for you...the 9600 I'd guess would perform the best of those.

I'm thinking 64 bit 6200 won't perform very well.
 
I'd go for the 6200 IF it's not a TC (turbo cache) model. There's a possibility you might be able to unlock additional pipelines to match the spec of a 6600, since it's AGP. That and it's got the most features amongst all of those cards. Stray far far away from the old GeForce FX5600.

What about the FX5600 Ultra...............does it compete with the Radeon 9600 Pro and would be faster than a normal 9600?
FYI The Fx is a MSI FX5600 Ultra
and 9600 is a Sapphire 9600 256MB

The FX5600 SUCKS, and the most anti future proof card ever created possibly.

Why are you limited to those cards? Makes no sense at all, why not get a better card?

Anyway, if you must go with those get the 9600.

A 64 bit 6200 is going to perform like shit.

9600 eats a 5600U for a snack anyday, can you give us a link to the 6200, AND btw what games are you playing?

Try and pick up a GeForce 6800GT from the FS/FT forum here on the [H]. You can get it on the cheap because it's used, if you're careful...and that card is easily one of the best AGP cards out there (certainly from nVIDIA).
 
wait, why can you only buy one of these cards?

it just doesn't seem very logical considering there are better cards for only dollars more, and you have a good mix of AGP cards listed.

The issue with the 5600Ultra is that its core, the FX, is really really crappy with any current games that use shaders. And that's basically every single new game, and therefore the 5600Ultra has no future at all.

It does not preform well in newer games.

If the 6200 is NOT a Tubro Cache or TC version you can unlock it as shownhere

The one he said is a 64 bit only 6200, which is the major issue and no matter how many pipelines you unlock on it, the memory bandwidth is simply so crappy that you will not get any decent performance out of it.

True. So i think the way to go is the 9600, make sure your case is getting some airflow as it is passively cooled. Good Luck!
 
Look these are 9600 specs i am gonna buy

Pixel Fill Rate: 1300 MPixels/sec
Texture Fill Rate: 1300 MTexels/sec
Memory Bandwidth: 6.4 Gb/sec
Core Clock: 325 Mhz
Memory Clock: 400 Mhz (Effective)

and the MSI Fx5600 Ultra Specs are

Pixel Fill Rate: 1600 MPixels/sec
Texture Fill Rate: 1600 MTexels/sec
Memory Bandwidth: 12.8Gb/sec
Core Clock: 400 Mhz
Memory Clock: 800 Mhz (Effective)

The specs of FX5600 Ultra are better in every aspect...........Still you ppl are saying Radeon 9600 is better :( :( :(
 
Dude, those specs do not matter at all. Without an effeicent core the card is going to suck period. Which is the issue with the FX cards, simply put all new cards on them suck.

Yes, it's true. The 9600 is better. The numbers may show that the 5600 is faster, but the GPU doesn't have the power. So with less memory bandwidth and pixel/texture fill rate, the 9600 will perform better.

For example:
I had an old FX5700Ultra 128MB in my desktop before I upgraded. My laptop uses a 9600Pro Mobile with 64Mb dedicated vram.

I can play Freelancer on my laptop at 1280x1024 with AF maxed out, but with no AA. On the 5700U, I could play with no AA and AF maxed, but only at 800x600 for comparable performace, smoothness, and feel of the game. If I turned off all visual options on the 5700U, I could play at a max of 1024x768 unless I wanted it to start getting choppy.

I can actually play Doom 3 at 800x600 on medium settings on my laptop. It's not even worth it on the 5700U even with the lowest settings.
