Best card for painkiller?

2.8c going to be oced to as fast as possible.
i'm interested in the 9800pro, x800 pro, and 6800gt. which would give me the best value for pk in medium resolutions(600,768,1024). I have yet to see a pk timedemo.
 
Best value BY FAR is the 9800 pro since the new cores are brand new and well overpriced due to demand.
 
There is no purpose in buying a 9800 pro even if you can get one for $200 when a 6800GT lays waste to it. If your going to buy something get a 6800GT or X800Pro. And with the latest drivers the 6800GT is quite a bit faster then the X800Pro. The 6800GT will OC to ultra speeds.

Here is what the performance looks like in Painkiller for the 6800's.

The 6800 ultra in that review gained 25 fps in Painkiller at 1600x1200 w/ 4x AA + 8x AF enabled on the new 61.34 drivers.

I would buy a regular 6800nu before i would buy a 9800 pro because a 6800nu is still alot faster then a 9800XT or 5950.
 
Any of the next-generation cards will play it well. I wouldn't bother going for a 9800 Pro or other R3xx variant if you can afford not to, as they are put to serious shame by the new cards.

I could play the game 1024x7 max settings 2xAA just fine on my 9800pro. Just got my x800 in though, that can play it 1280x1024,I have an LCD and that is max rez, everything maxed, max AA no prob.

omfg in that review they were using the 4.5 BETA drivers for the x800. It's not like it's that big of a deal but the 4.6's and 4.7's do a lot for the x800. It's a good card. That the 6800GT are pretty close. Due to the avalibility I bought an x800 though. A 6800GT is looking REAL good :D

For starters Painkiller is a DX8.1 game So even the 9600XT runs it at pretty much max if you have the right comp?
As for buying the 6800GT, he is probably better with a cheap 9800 or 5900 for now as Try and find a retail 6800GT or 6800 anything for that matter!

6800nu's aren't hard to find. most eta's on 6800gt's are before july too.

Value-wise at those resolutions I would get a 9800 Pro as I have seen them for under $200 brand new or you could get a better deal buying one used from someone upgrading to a newer card.
 
Painkiller runs fine on my 9800pro with high settings. Good game by the way, can't figure why some say it sucks.
