my brother recently sold his 9700 pro for 150 because he wants money for his car and doesnt game like he used to

now, his mainboard doesnt have integrated so he wants to get a cheap ~$50 card just to get him by, he may still play the occasional UT2K3 though

he will not use any more than 50 on it so it has to be close to that point

im convinced that the 5200FX sucks by all means

perhaps a 9200 or a 9000, i know they are castrated but im sure that they can still do better than a 5200FX

the FX5200Ultra is faster than a fx5600nu, and i use to have a fx5600nu and it ran like a champ on my system. As long as you don't turn on AA and AF you will be fine. Thats why im saying if you can get a FX5200ultra it would be better than a FX5600nu. I don't like 9200. ati 9600 and above is acceptable.

Geforce3. Will play pretty much every game fine. I know because I had one until about a week ago.

well you can get a 9100 with 128mb for $60 at newegg.com It has the 275/275 core/mem speed I think....

Just checked... and newegg doesnt even list them anymore... Crazy. 2-3 days ago I was thinking of getting one for my friends computer.

Yeah dude. just get a geforce 3 or something. If you can fine an 8500 or 9100 (same card) you should get that though. They give damn good performance for the cheap price.

just picked up a pny verto 64mb ti4200 for 52$ shipped off ebay, used but garnuteed in perfect working order

my ti200 128meg is still pumping out [H]ard.

93 to 143 fps (no oc) in cod
at
800x600
high charecter and genreral textrures/ trilinear filtering and high detail models.

(fps cap is turned off) /seta com_maxfps 200 or something like that.

get a geforce3 or a geforce3 ti200/500.

my geforce 3 and ti200 can play bf1942 and halo with good frame rates.

Actually, I 'upgraded' from a Radeon 9000 to a GF3 Ti200 and -lost- performance. I guess it handled AA/AF a bit more gracefully, but the 9000 is just plain faster at raw gfx output.

the Radeon 9000 was about equal to the 8500, and the 9000 was better than the GF3 and a little slower than the GF4, so that wasn't the smartest move.

The 9000 is slower than the 8500. It's the 9100 that is equal. If that guy was running a GF3 slower than a 9000 he was having driver problems.

does no one remember he 8500le anymore. that was truely a great card and is like 50-60 buck now

Just that the ti4200 is quite a bit better for about the same price.

Radeon 9100 would get my vote, but it's usually a little closer to $70. Also it's not quite as fast as the 8500, and I believe it's the same as the 8500LE. It's also a discontinued product... it didn't have a very long lifespan. If you MUST stay under $50, I hate to say this, but I think the Geforce4 MX440 is okay at that price point.

I picked one up over a year and a half ago for ~60 bucks. Just tonight though I decided to fiddle with it. I got this plain vanilla (pre Ti) Geforce3 running at 250/530 on stock cooling. I haven't pushed the core further but my god 25% overclock on the core seems insane for this thing. I remember once though I was messing with the memory on this thing a long time ago and I got it up to 575 with an 80mm fan but I never played with the core then, so I'm surprised.

This online dealer Shentech has a Vision Tek Geforce3 64MB for ~60 bucks. Who knows might be a mad dog overclocker like this PixelView of mine.
