Do you have some proof to backup those statements? As far as I am concerned the HD4830 is just a next gen 8600GT.

Man, I'm not sure where you are getting your info...

A HD4830 is the equivalent to a 9600GT, which is WAY faster than an 8600GT. I have both, so I know ;)

Use gpureview.com, it's your friend and you should really use it!
 
I agree the HD4830 is the best sub $100 video card. Its actually a tad faster than the 9800GT.

Why is it getting compared to the 8600GT and 9600GT.

Superhuman: Slow down my friend. I got a slap on the wrist last week from HardForum for calling a guy a jerk (which he was) & I was simply asking for some help with a purchase of a part.

Clearly....QuickS has an attitude issue & he got banned very quickly for it! I was reading some of his past replies & he was way over the top!

As I mentioned, you picked up a nice card for $75.00 & leave it @ that. Don't stir the pot anymore. You got the 4830 & move on or HF will close you down or in my case, give you a warning. I should have not have engaged the "other" poster that pissed me off. It not worth it! They are plenty of great people on here that know a lot more then I do & they have helped me out in the past!

I second that, the 9600GT is just a hair faster than the HD 3870 and the HD 4830 destroys the HD 3870 and is on par with the 9800GT, it has double the amount of stream processors that the HD 3870 has
 
HD4830 is a good buy as far a video cards go. I think its a better buy than a 9800gt as it out performs it in most games and is usually cheaper. Most bump up to 650-700 core with no problem.
 
Well, I got my 4830 yesterday, and it's working great.

CPU is definitely a bottleneck, but my all of my games are still running noticeably faster. I can play COD4 at 1680x1050 with 4x AA and 16x AF with everything maxed with no lag. Before with my 7900 GT, I played at the same resolution, but with no AA and all the settings on normal or low.

Good thing I bought only the video card. Now I can save for a new system later in the year.

The fan is quiet and it also runs very cool. It reached only 55* after 20 min of rthdribl.

This is one heck of a great read! Glad to see you got a great card at a great price! I've recommended that deal to a couple of people and they have all been very happy with it!
