best budget laptop for programming and running virtualization
hello i will be programming C C++ Java Java EE, Andriod development running Vmware Virtualbox etc for windows linux environments or Ios maybe

I dont play games on laptop just watching hd movies surfing etc

my budget is $500 and below

laptops are both Samsung 300 series 15.6 inch HD screen and dvd writer

-1 cheap option for $380 (but will this be slow for programming development and virtualization???)

Celeron B820 1.7 Ghz 2 cores dual core HD Graphics with VTX virtualization

Ram 2GB Hard Disk 320 GB

-2 max best budget option in $500

Core i3 2370m 2.4 Ghz 2 cores 4 threads hyperthreading HD graphics 3000 with VTX virtualization

Ram 4 GB expandable to 8 GB Hardisk 500 GB

Pls answer fast i want to get it before Christmas
 
if using virtualization, you will be happier with an I3 with Hyperthreading over the celeron. Depending on how many VMs you want to boot, 8GB of ram may be your limiting factor before the cpu.

hey thanks i think it best then that i get the i3 processor also this processor can support max 16 gb ram
i plan to run only one vm not multiple

And also what is the absolute minium processor speed for running vmware and doing virtualization?
 
If your one VM will be under light usage, the i3, 4-8 gigs o ram and an SSD will get you setup real nice.
 
no minimum speed from a vmware workstation or virtual box speed, just depends on any apps, most of which don't care as well for what you are talking about doing

you know different generations of processors have different instructions per second, floating point instructions per seconds, pipeline lengths, architectures etc.

Yes rite again it depends on what your running in VM
so i plan to get the speediest processor around that will have speed for at least some years which in this case will be i3 2.4 ghz 2 cores 4 threads

i sure will feel like i want more now that Intel i7 is come out with quad core laptop processor
