Best Browser for windows 7?

Crap, someone already posted on for Win7? Search utility fails me once again!

Why would the OS make any difference at all?.... Each browser has its benefits and downfalls. Use what you used in your previous OS.

Thread fail. :)

Its a new OS.. I was curious if anything ran better on it vs. anything else. Thread Fail? lol

Browsers are at the point where the differences in speed are almost immeasurable. Just use whatever has the feature-set that suits you. For me, now that bookmark syncing is available, its Chrome.

Thank you :)

Can I use XMarks on Chrome now? Because that would be awesome.

Why does the OS matter? Now, if you were asking for Windows 2000, then I would understand. All recent applications, especially browsers, are going to be equally compatible across the 3 major windows platforms.

+1

There are so many options out there now, and they're all good options too. Pick one that fits you best.

I use Firefox on Win7 but it's not perfect.

I have problems using Firefox with flash ad's or movies in that they almost always freeze up my browser for a few seconds.

I don't have that problem when I do a clean install + add flash, but when I upgrade firefox or the flash module it starts locking up or freezing when I visit a site that has flash.

open about:config (put that in your address bar and hit enter) then type in browser.sessionstore.interval in the filter box, you'll see a value of 10000, which is in milliseconds (thats 10 seconds) change it to something like 300000 which is every 5 minutes.

This makes FF save your session every 5 minutes instead of every 10 seconds. If 5 minutes is to long make it shorter.

Wow, thanks for that. I was getting annoyed that youtube videos would always drop a few frames every ten seconds or so.

I haven't installed any other browsers. For my use, IE8 is fine. No crashes, no hang-ups, no slow-downs.

I use Opera but it has some issues.

What I do like is how simple it is to turn off 'referrer' and the 'paste and go' I like a lot. Tabs are sweet and it is fast. Plus i guess I am just used to it.

The problem it has is it doesn't work on some major sites like youtube when trying to upload a video. Or, in my comcast email. So I have to use firefox for all of the sites it won't work.

P.S. You can say "just use IE when you need to, and use brand X browser at all other times"... but WHY?? Why use two programs, when the one that came with the OS works as well as it does.

I prefer IE8 for the Aero integration, esp Aero preview, tho I'll definitely consider switching to FF4 or whatever that integrates task bar tab previews, esp if it does the whole sandboxing thing. For now IE8 with it's tab previews and sandboxing outweighs the other features of FF, and screw opera.

Actually for me the lack of customization in IE is probably a good thing since over time I tend to go addon crazy and add every nifty little thing I find until FF is an utter mess with extra buttons everywhere, which I'll grant you is a self control problem it's somewhat mitigated by unca bill's "THIS IS HOW THOU SHALT BROWSE AND NO OTHER" design. >_>

Do Outlook web access with Opera or FF, then tell me what you think....

I don't know what outlook web access has to do with content blocking, but some of us don't use outlook web access for anything. So I don't know what you're looking for me to say.

If outlook web access doesn't work properly in ff and opera, then I don't care, because I don't use it.

Are we really going to argue about preferred browser? Like I already said, use what has the features and functionality that you want. For years it was Firefox (for me) because you can not match its features when you add extensions into the mix.

Recently I realized that all I really want is something small and fast and the syncs my bookmarks seamlessly between multiple machines. Chrome does that. IE is just ugly and slow IMO.

And some of us don't care if Opera has better content blocking... so can we call it even?

I think maybe the conclusion we should be coming to is that different browsers cater to different people's needs

Firefox til IEpro is in stable release for IE8 on Win7, then back to IE.

Arguing about personal browser preferences is just plain silly!

However the topic, in its title, asks which browser is "best" for Windows 7, and that's a different matter. It's a question to which there can really be only one reasonable answer, because of course the browser which is "best" for that particular OS version is the one which is included and fully integrated, Internet Explorer, under Vista or Windows 7, is the most secure and also the only one which doesn't introduce the potential for conflicts/problems arising from the use of third party software.

IE, in protected mode with UAC enabled on the 'pooter, is the safest browsing option available for the platform, and the one least likely to cause/contribute to system problems. So when determining which browser is best 'for the OS platform the answer is simple and straighforward!

People choose a different browser and that's their business. But it's a choice which is best for them, not best for the OS.

Firefox works just fine when I use OWA. Not sure what you're talking about.

Open it up in IE7 or IE8, and you won't BELIEVE what you have been missing. Seriously. I am not being silly or trying to be funny.... it's just the facts. ;)

Wow ie is the most secure? Who decided that?

In 6-7 years of using firefox i have never got a virus or other system wide problem stemming from browsing. My IE using customers are constantly having issues with browsing using IE, as recent as just last weekend even.
