Getting ready to install a stock Koolance ALX cooling system in my Alienware case and was wondering what the best blocks are if I want to upgrade them. Please tell me what makes them better than any others as this is my first w/c machine. Thanks!

Best blocks for what? CPU, GPU, NB/SB?
 
Dtek Fuzion/Apogee GTX for the CPU.

MCW60/EK FC block for the GPU.

MCW30 for the NB/SB.
 
Best cooling and install benefits. Also would be nice if it was leak proof!:p Pretty is nice but best performance is top of the list. The machine is the one in my sig. I don't know jack about watercooling so if I'm missing any specific details , lmk. I have been building pc's for quite a few years , so I'm not illiterate about computers. I know that solid copper is the way to go as far as heat transfer but there are so many different designs. Which works the most efficiently and will perform better than my Chilltec?
 
No water cooled unit will perform anywhere near what you are currently getting with your Chilltec. If better is what you are looking for then phase change or an alcohol chiller is the way to go.

Are u looking to cool everything (NB, CPU, GPU, hard drives, etc)?

OP: What are your current load temps? Vcore on the CPU?
 
Load temps have never been over 43*C and that's with some heavy video encoding , downloads , movie burning , and maybe some surfing or movie watching. I don't usually do all of this at once but I did it to see what some temps were going to be. This is with a vCore of 1.31 and a clock of 4.0GHz which is only 600 MHz over stock. Idle is around 23-25*C and system is about 35*C depending on ambient temp.
This is a P4D955EE and I was under the impression that they ran hot but this doesn't seem too bad to me. Am I maybe working backwards by going to water? Maybe I should check out a "chilled" water cooler? I guess I'd like to be able to idle at ambient and run full bore less than 10*C higher. I totally want to stay away from condensation as i am kind of a poor boy and have a lot of time and money invested in this machine. Suggestions on the future of my cooling?:(
 
The greatest advantages to water cooling these days (solely performance wise) are reduced noise level (when resulting in similar temperatures compared to air) and cooling multiple components at the same time (which further helps to reduce noise). I'd expect water cooling to be able to match your current Chilltec temps (Ultra claims a C/W of 0.12-0.15) and most certainly improve your GPU temp to allow as much OC room as you could want (to a limit while staying quiet, of course).

So, if you want to go for water cooling, the blocks Arcygenical will do you fine. Since your D is an older dual core design, if you really like an older block design (such as the Storm) won't suffer as great of a temperature difference compared to quad cores.
 
Thanks for the replies guys. I think that I'm going to stick with the Chilltec for a little while longer or until something better comes around.;)
