Best bang for $$ Cooling?

I'm upgrading my rig soon, and I'm thinking of going the Prescott Overclocking route. (Either the 2.4a/533 or the 2.8E/800 ) Since these babies run hot, I am wondering if watercooling is finally worth the extra $$$.

My 3 options I'm thinking of are:
  1. Getting a retail CPU and use the retail HSF to OC
  2. Get a nice ($60ish) HSF and overclocking
  3. Get a medium priced (Not crap, not mega $$$) water-cooling system (with peltier if possible) and overclock more

    Money is not a big issue, but I don't have money to burn. (I.E. If watercooling will save the CPU and motherboard from burning out in 12 months and get me an extra 400Mhz, then the $200ish is no big deal. However, if watercooling isn't going to give me a much better OC then I don't have the money to burn.)

    An additional factor is that I don't have much spare time. If I go woatercooling, I need someone to recommend a mostly ready-made kit as I have a wife and two kids that take the majority of my time.

    If it matters, I'm pretty much starting from scratch and replacing everything (case, HD, MB, CP, etc.)

    Thoughts?
 
If you plan to get a PrescHOT, water cooling will be your most economical and effective way to cool that hot chip. Unless you wan to spend big money on a vapor chill.
 
Vapochills run around $800.

So if i were you i would either take a look at the Koolance Exos (External kit 98% ready to go) Or head over to dangerden.com and get one of their kits.

The dangerden kit will give you better cooling, but the Exos will get you 400mhz. With the dangerden you could most likley go upwords of 800mhz.
 
I think water cooling might be best, but there seems to be VERY little comparison between different watercooling kits on reputable sites. The only thing I have found that isn't really old and seeming reputable is this site . Are there any other good reviews out there for picking which watercooling kit I should get?

I'm not real interested in paying big $$$$ for crappy performance, and there seems to be plenty of companies that don't mind overcharging for bad watercooling kits.
 
I would wait on seeing how these 2.4 prescotts due as many may be "defective chips" that couldn't clock well for the other variations.....


Also I would skip the whole prescott line at the moment.....I think the D0 stepping may come shortly and could have some fixes for some of the power leakage and heat....Right now you need from testing I have seen 3.6ghz to equal that of a northwood on most applications...there are some anamolies like better performance at lower speeds of the prescott i some multimedia apps and possible some signs of a slight improvement in HT....

However the added pipeline length may make the prescott not a great option until we get closer to 3.8 and 4.0ghz...

That is my opinion, but good luck either way!!!!
 
For your info, the Prescott A 533 fsb chips don't have hyperthreading.
