Whats the best heatsink for the Athlon 64 Socket 754?

Best performance... and articles/matchups if you got them.. Thanks I just dont got time

this is highly debated, but the general consensus is that the best few are the thermaltake big typhoon, scythe ninja, xp-90c, and zalman cnps9500. the new thermalright blow-through tower (hr-01) might be added to this list too, it performs as well as the ninja. not sure if its shorter, but i know its thinner/shallower, depending on which way you're looking at it from.

very true, oh btw where you located soymilk?

I personally would not include the XP90 in that list of best coolers. I have seen many benchmarks where it is outperformed by a BT or 9500 by over 5+ degrees.

I like my Si-120, one good thing about it is the heatsink fins dont connect to the base and they're suspended in the air by the heatpipes....meaning theres no place for dust to get trapped

are u sure it was the xp-90c, or just xp-90? the copper one cools very well, and even if its a degree or two warmer than the bt or 9500 (i dont think its really 5+ over those 2), its still worth mentioning cuz its the best one that is small.

The Venus 12 works out great for me, thing is huge though.
Not very big, but it does feature a poor design (poor solder joint between fins + base, fins too densely packed means backpressure + noise, and the included fan is very, very noisy). Plus, it is a Thermaltake design...

i installed an XP-90 on my 3700+ (@2.6Ghz) about three weeks ago, using AS5. Now that the paste has cured, idle temps went from 45^C to 30^C, and loaded temps went from 55^C to 38^C. a nice bonus is that the fins on the heatsink extend over my memory, so it gets cooled as well.
