Currently running an old via appollo pro motherboard with a 600mhz celleron overclocked to
750mhz i know no great shakes but what can ya do,,,anyhow it gets worse my vid card is a geforce 2mx 64meg and my options are pretty limited,my mainboard is 2x agp ive asked different retailers whats the best card i can get for gaming with varying results so ive turned to you guys an girls to.....(if theres any here) ta see if you can help me out,and yes ive done some digging and the best i seen so far is the geforce 4.Thanx :)

Most video cards are backwards compatible with 2x. That being said the processor and 2x standard will limit faster cards. I would go with a high end geforce 4 or better yet a ATI 9600 of some sort.

Hmm I think youre fine with the Geforce2mx :( Dont know if a Geforce4 would be a good investment, the celeron would really hurt.

On your AGP slot, is there a notch on the AGP slot? Is it closer to the back or front of the case?

Leaning toward the geforce4 im mainly concerned about wanting a card that does shaders and no not all cards are agp 2x compatible the agp slots different i agree the celleron would hurt it but im also in the process now of finding out if my board will work with an adapter to run a tualatin proc, that would help somewhat.

PS:ill take the side off my case later and look at the agp slot.

Amazing, you manage to pick the exact card on which ATi abandoned AGP2x support :)
The last ATi's to support it are the 9500s and 9700s.
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 still supports it, I believe, best card you can get, but well, as others have said... pretty much a waste considering the rest of the system.

A 9500, if you can find one.. My daughters' can still play most of the newer games on it.. Albeit at lower res and quality settings, but hey you are pairing it with a 600 celery.. I'm guessing you are not figuring on playing Doom3 on it..
