Hello,

I'm somewhat new to Nvidia, had a Geforce many years ago. I effectively sold all of my 7970's at a good profit, kept half the cash for a new crib for my third kid and want to use the other half on a 780 TI.

I think I want a blower style, I always liked the idea of exhausting the hot air, especially in my mid-tower. Eventually I'll probably SLI the 780TI with another in a year or two.

What is the best company? I'm currently looking at a EVGA Superclock 780TI blower style. I generally buy ASUS but I've been hearing horror stories.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

All reference blower 780ti's are identical and produced by nvidia, so you're just basically purchasing the same cards with different AIB (evga, asus, etc) stickers. So with that being the case, choose whatever company you believe to have the best warranty and CS coverage. EVGA is pretty popular around here because of their good CS, although I have never had issues with Asus either. Asus has been great for me, but if you feel leery EVGA is probably the way to go.

Also: I wouldn't buy the superclocked version, you can easily get the standard version and overclock it to the same level yourself. Their SC overclocks are *very* minimal and you're essentially paying EVGA 20 bucks for something that you can easily do yourself. Not worth it IMO.

Yeah wasn't sure if superclocked was binned or not, but I just read a review where it didn't seem to OC any better than the vanilla.

Thanks for the advice xoleras!

Evga +1. I personally went with the ACX style cooler for lower noise... but I have excellent case air flow. In a mid tower with low air flow I'd go with the blower style

EVGA or MSI in my opinion. EVGA has terrific CS, no brainer for the blower unit if you have a poor airflow case. If you have good airflow, the SC ACX or the MSI Gaming is a good choice. If you want to do any serious overclocking down the road, you may look at the Classified as normal 780Ti will not be able to go past 1.212v on the core but the Classified can apparently. I don't know if this applies to the MSI Gaming.

Thanks for the additional replies. I ended up going with a vanilla EVGA blower type.

The classified was very very tempting, I have 5 case fans so I may have been able to pull it off, but wanted to be safe.

I think I'll actually stay away from SLI. I didn't really care for xfire... I know sli is supposed to be better but I think in 2-3 years I'll sell my 780ti and just get the top tier card again. (Random thoughts)

I can bench my Superclocked Ti's under water at 1255mhz core and 8035mhz memory. I play at 1230mhz/8000ghz 24/7, or stock during League of Legends because that game is bullshit and is unstable with any GPU OC or refresh rate OC.

MSI Gaming is the best "bang for buck" 780Ti and maybe the fastest right now. Than Gigabyte GHZ ed... Lightning and Class. etc will have higher prices and no real benefits, unless for serious overclockers. More noise and heat are also very possible.

I've been super happy with my Gigabyte 780 Ti Windforce OC. It's super-quiet and GPU Boost gets me to 1137 usually, but it will start out at 1150 - 1170. I will flash the BIOS in the next few days to see what else I can do with it.

The GHz edition wasn't available at the time, else I probably would have went with that to get the nice backplate :).

I bought X gpu & like it...not helpful, reviews are. Forgot about this Palit Jetstream Ti which is very fast. Reviews. The PNY VCGGTX780T3XPB-OC uses the same cooler as the Palit.

You guys all missed the fact that the OP wanted a reference blower and wanted to know the best brand with a reference blower. Not the best custom cooler. ;)

Looks like his answer was EVGA. (for warranty/CS reasons)

Objectively determining which brand is the best would require one to sift through tons customer reviews regarding customer service and read consumer report type sites. Plus the OP said he thinks he wants a reference blower. Might change his mind after reading some reviews, but I admit I missed that.

Definitely don't disagree with you. In terms of custom cooling....I feel like so many aftermarket cards with GK110 are good that you can probably flip a coin to pick one, unless you have a strong preference related to brand, aesthetics, prior experience, or whatever else. I really like the DC II and Windforce cards, based on good experiences in the past. Palit looks nice too, but they're harder to find here in the states.

I do think EVGA CS is quite a bit better than others (strictly from a US standpoint), but that generally doesn't stop me from buying other brands. I like EVGA but I don't think the ACX cooler is the best aftermarket cooler on the market. It's certainly good, but probably not the absolute best. It's all subjective like you mention. ;)
