Best 5.1 Speakers?

Hey im building my first computer and the last thing i have to decide on is Speakers and a Soundcard. i think im just gonna start off with the Abit NF7-S with Soundstorm for the soundcard. But im not sure About speakers.

Preferably i would like to stay around $80

I want them to be 5.1

i'm gonna be using them for some gaming and lots of music (Hip-hop, Rap, n' Rock)

i have a normal size 12x12 room

I'd like LOTS of deep low Bass, and preferably but less important, Sharp Clear Highs.

and Preferably id like Bass and Treble Adjustment, not necessary though.

and one more question, since the NF7-S has soundstorm im wondering about using an external reciever. first off what would be the benefits of that, second would be could i use an equalizer in the place of the reciever?

ALl for $80 and 5.1 to boot. I think you may want to readjust your expectations.

$80 is rather low for any 5.1 setup and VERY low for one that sounds good.

I would recommend finding a decent 2.1 setup since you did not mention watching DVDs on it. Or better yet get a good pair of Cans.

If you really want 5.1 check out Logitechs Z-5300. But I can not recommend them. And they are still over your budget.
 
no way your going to get a nice set of 5.1 for $80, sorry dude :p
 
just drop the $150 or whatever they cost now and get a set of logitech z-560s i have them and they are great. you can easly hear them from any corner of my 3000 sq foot house, and they are located in a corner room on the second floor :) my parents and sister ALWAYS complain about them, but i would not trade them for anything, well, maybe i would trade them for a set of z-680s :D
 
I'm a big fan of the klipsch digitals, but that's way out of your price range.
 
80 bucks? they have z5300's on ebay for almost that much money...
 
as usual, my vote goes for the Creative S700 system.

but like someone else said, thats not in your price range. :(

Just a note, the Z-560s are 4.1 and not 5.1. I have these also and they might be what you're looking for at the next price point.
 
Come on people, maybe his expectations just sound higher than they actually are.
Given that possibility I'd say he should look at Logitech since Z-640's might be found cheap somewhere and the Altec products in his range. Getting clean 'deep bass' (some people believe 60Hz is deep bass...) out of a system for less than $80 is basically impossible however.

BobSaget's advice might be the most relevant - look for cutrate deals on refurbed or new 5300's on ebay. They'll sound a ton better than $80 5.1 computer speakers in retail.

I'd recommend a secondhand receiver and some good used bookshelf speakers, but that would probably also exceed the budget.
