I should clarify, best 24" for gaming for a nvidia surround setup.

I'm looking for something with thinner bezels and good response time. Trying to keep them under $220 a monitor. I'm not going any video or graphical work so TN panels are sufficient since theyre usually the best for gaming.

Also can someone recommend a good mount/stand for these?

24" at 1920x1200 or 1900x1080? Big difference there.

As far as response time...don't believe the hype. You won't be able to tell the difference in ms and the cheaper monitors measure gtg (grey to grey) versus the white to black (or black to black) measurements of nicer monitors. Bottom line is that any decent monitor will be totally fine for gaming if your graphics card can push it.

For gaming, Input lag is more important than the measured response time measurements for modern panels. Also Read the monitor reviews to ascertain the monitor's responsiveness as per ghosting which is not really measureable and is more subjective.

I had actually meant to type input lag. I'm currently using a 32" Panasonic IPS panel HDTV 1080p TCL32S1, which has been heralded as having minimal to no real input lag.

Preference is on 1920x1200 but I can live with 1920x1080, as that is what I currently use today.

For 24" 1920X1200 I would recommend the Dell U2411, but its out of your price range. This is the only one I would recommend in your price range

To be honest, if you can wait for sales or spend a bit more, I would go for one of these two 23": Dell U2311h or NEC EA231wmi. Both are IPS panels, have fantastic inputs, picture, and stands. Gives you room to go eyefinity/surround as well.

Backup would be to go to a Costco if you have one and get one of their TN panels. They offer instant returns up to 18 months.

You can't really ask for the "best" surround display and then caveat it later with such a low price limit. If you mean; what's the best $220 or less surround monitor, that makes more sense. Obviously an IPS monitor would be the best if you weren't limited to $220.

I think anyone can easily put 2 and 2 together and realize the criteria and give suggestion based off of that.

I have a 32" IPS panel tv as a monitor right now... I haven't seen much advantage of it for gaming. If I can grab IPS 24" monitors for a decent price I'll definitely consider them. I'm just not really looking to buy 3 monitors at $400 a piece right now when a TN panel is more than sufficient for gaming.

If you can highlight why an IPS is better for gaming I am all ears, because most of them I've come across have higher amounts of input lag that I wish to deal with, but I could be wrong.

The HP ZR24W (about $385), only has 8ms input lag. That is lower than most TN panels. Even the 120Hz TN panels have shown to have some input lag, averaging out to around 12ms according to some testers. Plus, in addition to all of the image quality improvements IPS has over TN, they are also better screens for surround due to the viewing angle limitations.

Even with a 3 screen setup, the viewing limitations where rearing their heads when I had two TN panels on the side of my IPS for surround gaming. Forget about portrait mode all together.
