Hi, recently purchased a 23" widescreen BenQ monitor (fp231w). 1st monitor had 10 dead pixels - returned it, and just received 2nd one that has no dead pixels, however has light bleeding from the top and four corners when screen is black (or watching a dark movie/game).. Question is: am I being overly critical? should I continue trying out more benq monitors (even going to other stores to do so?) , or is there a better 23"+ lcd out there for gaming/windows applications/movies? (ie. sony, samsung, hp, lg, etc..) I already have a sound system and tv tuner.. so do not require those extras..

AFAIK, the Apple Cinema HD 23" LCD can't be beaten. The only issue is the $2000 pricetag.

I agree, Samsung is a lot of value for the bucks.

Depending on how adventurous you feel, the light bleed issue is very fixable. As a rule it’s caused by the uneven tightening of the clamps that hold the panel in place. The overly tight screws actually cause the problem, a bit of adjusting and relieving some of the pressure can fix the problem

I'd disagree with the Apple LCD 23...

1) Depending on your video card, you may not be able to see the BIOS during bootup. The screen just displays utter blackness and flickers a little bit as if changing resolutions.

2) Screen's got a pinkish tinge to it that's noticeable on grayish colors. Doesn't seem to affect only individual units as many many people have reported this...

3) I can actually feel heat emanating off this LCD when using moderately high brightness, which annoys me. I have to turn the brightnes down pretty low to reduce this effect, so the image is kind of dim right now. I hope this isn't true of the Sony?

I'm returning mine to get a Sony 23 inch instead... actually I should have both and I'll be able to compare them side by side with my ATI X2-256....
