Hey

I'm looking for the ideal setup for my 2 x 74GB raptors, since I'm planning a format soon. And also have a WD 320GB storage disk.

I mostly work in Photoshop, Flash, watch high-definition movies off hard drive and a little of gaming.

Here is what I tought of:
Raptor 1 — Windows, page file (3GB)
Raptor 2 — Program Files, Photoshop scratch disk (6GB)

Anyone tried having programs on a second drive? Would that improve performance?

Lmk any recommendations.

3GB for Swap? do u have like 128MB of RAM or what? if u use photochop power user, u should consider getting more RAM,

Disc 1 — Windows, page file (3GB)
so u plan to use a RAID 0 with your raptors?

I think you'd be much better off *overall* with raid 0 and everything on one drive. Having them on seperate drives will only *help* when both drives/uses are saturated at the time time, which is statistically not an often thing. Raid 0, although it's theoretically slower than what you're proposing, will give you 2x the performance all the time, for all things.

hmm I know the scatch disk is used pretty often, I don't know about the page file. I know in my case the page file kicks in after a few hours in photoshop. I just don't know how much it is used and when...

Right now I'm using only 1 Raptor for everything, and it gets slower after hours when loading files and making modifications, and its not ram/cpu.

Any one tried having windows and programs files on diff drives?
Any Photoshopers out here?
