Probably marry this to a CL XFi type card. I primarily do gaming on the PC and don't have the space/setup for 5.1 or 7.1 systems. What are some decent choices? Logitech, Klipsch, Bose, etc., or go off the board and piece it together. As stated I don't really need to go super audiophile with separates, but if should do a receiver type system I will!

My Promedia 2.1's did awesome when gaming.

Why not consider them (can get 'em cheap on ebay) and possibly a decent pair of headphones?

110 shipped? new? yea, pretty good price.

They can be had on ebay refurb'd for like ~70-80 with some looking around/bidding

I've got the promedia 2.1's and their awesome. Highly recommend them.

i just bought the logitech z-2300s and find they are very good.

The insanely high powered subwoofer makes playing games really enjoyable and immersive.

Wow I'm really impressed with the Z-2300's. I purchased them based partly on this thread's comments and they blow me away awesome quality for the dollar. Blow my old altec lansing 2.1 setup out of the water (they were about 10 years old though and the sub never really put out much bass). :D

If you don't have the room or money for a good 5.1 setup but still want some great sounding speakers these are the way to go.

In my case I have a 5.1 setup for my HDTV but I don't have a place to put the rears if I was to go 5.1 for my gaming pc.

yeah i was also upgrading from Altec Lansing 2.1's, and yeah, the difference is huge :D

glad you like it also hehe

Hands down the Pro Media 2.1 are the best PC specific speakers out the. For music or games.

I have the Promedia 2.1's. They're AMAZING. I get comments on them all the time. I've even had several friends who have high end HT systems comment that these sound just as good as theirs. You won't be disappointed. I bought mine for $150 a few years ago, and if you can get them for ~$100, then that's a steal.

Some comments though: you may want to get better speaker wire connectors (they're mediocre, but you can do better). And do note that the connection slots on the back of the sub are fragile. One of mine broke, but I was able to go to Fry's and find a replacement for it that cost like $0.60. The only other annoyance is that the power button is on the sub, so the speakers are always going to be on unless you reach down behind your sub and turn it off.

Another vote for the Z2300s. I got them on two of my PCs. Mine and my teenage daughter's. Her friends always saying she has great sound coming from them. I'm a gamer and as far as games go they are really good. I'm not a huge music aficiendo but when I do listen to music on them I'm very pleased.

I have always liked the Pro Media line I have a set of 2.1 and 4.1, I hope to soon fine a set of ALX 5.1 if I can.
