Best 1vs1 multiplayer fps?????

Halo 1 on Wizard Map. Invisible, no Radar. Default weapons, 50 kills wins.


even better with 2 xboxes/tvs (no screen watching)
 
Quake 3 hands down. Has to be a well designed map thou, no red armor, no supercharge, no BFG ect, and don't go crazy with the yellow armor or the shards, otherwize it can lead to one side dominating the map with juice cycles.

Perfect map is small, but not so small that you can just chery pick, and has just enough health so that the victor of a fire-fight can get back on his feet to face off agenst the other guy with full health from a fresh spawn.

Or you could just go play rocket arena... lots of fun there.

Realy, any game can shine with the right map, UT series, DooM3, Painkiller. It just hard to find that right map. Too many put in some gimic that doesn't realy add anything, or are too easy for one player to juice cycle and dominate, becasue there is some super weapon or item that the map maker just had to have, or just too much health and armor. And some just flat out suck. Period.
 
Jedi Outcast/Academy. Force Powers adds some variables and lightsaber duels rock.

I would say i lost many hours sitting there dueling all day... anyone still play.. you think if i install people will be on, still dueling?

I don't know, but I'm seriously thinking about going to pick up a used copy @ EBGames (I foolishly sold my copy).

Man, not one person said it. Doom 2. I used to love to run back and forth between the spawns, tearing up my buddy every 3 seconds. I used to get 20 frags for every 1 death on the LAN I had set up in the basement. Great fun.
 
another vote for Goldeneye. There is nothing else that comes close.

I always used that little chinese guy. What was his name? Madjob or something like that?

Another Vote for Goldeneye hours of fun in that one......Its Oddjob I believe
 
UT original does well - ut 2003-2004 (2004 better than 2003, as it is more "true" to UT than the quake 3 knockoff 2003 was)
Quake 2 does well - quake 3
great thing about both is you can have a craptastic system and still run them well.
and you can prolly pick them both up real cheap via forums or bargin bins.
basically you have to look at the maps/weapons you use in any fps. Some will lend themselves quite well to 1 vs. 1, others will not.
 
Jedi Academy yes but otherwise Raven Shield makes for pretty fun 1 vs 1 action. Throw in some terrorists and you will have to compete about terrorist kills while looking out for the other player :D.
 
Hey Ron1jed, I remember playing you a few times 1v1. You owned me pretty hardcore back in those days. Maybe even now I'm not sure. I'm pretty terrible at Deck16 but Liandri is great. I only played Rocket Arena which I STILL play today. You should come check it out. Bran and Boom still play ocassionally as well as a few other but it's not like the old days. Also, I made a couple popular maps that are on a few different servers. RA-Broken and RA-Beta-c. :)
